We gathered together by the side of Coniston lake at Brown Howe wondering what the day would throw at us in the way of weather. As you can see in the distance there was thick set cloud but where we were it was bluish skys and quite calm so we set off towards the bottom of the lake where the River Crake begins. Not long after paddling along the river we entered an open expanse called Alans Tarn. For those new to the area we spent time chatting and exploring a while before returning the way we came back to the lake shore to have our packed lunch. Afterwards we split into two groups with one lot returning to Brown Howe and the other continuing up to Wild Cat island and down Crocodile river before heading back. There was a change in weather but it didn't stop anyone from having a great time. The day was captured mainly by Nancy who has now turned her hand from coaching to photography. Great photo of her wellies. Thanks to John for organising the paddle.
